Full moon and white sands on the stunning ebaches of the Zanzibar east Coast.
The white sand is actually hard enough to bicycle on, creating the bikepath with the best view in the world!
A piece op paradise on the east coast of Zanzibar.
Watching and swimming with a enormous pod of resident dolphins is one of the major tourist attractions of the island. Our boat was much more luxurious than this one: it had a bit of plastic on top to add a bit of shad from the grueling sun.
Swimming with the Zanizbar Dolphins in action.
Private snorkling transport. Somehow the dolphins couldn't care less, there there every single day. Sometimes stopping to play, sometimes not...
Stonetown harbour has tons of kids playing around, they love it when you take pictures. Just as long as you show them to them afterwards.
Jumping extra hard for the camera.
International kids sign!
Street views of Stonetown, a somewhat dirty but intriguing place.
"Caged" is what the man himself said. I thought is was just a fantastic photo of a very nice man. He is actually selling cinema tickets.
Perhaps the most dirty and gross place I've ever been to in my travels: de Stonetown meat market (in the back, in the white area). So incredibly dirty that we didn't make more than a few meters before running back out again.
Although most Tanzanian (muslims) don't want to have their picture taken the people of Zanzibar are a bit more relaxed. I was amazed though that these women let me photograph them. For them is was a laugh because when I was finished there were about 5 other people reaching for their camera's.
The Dhows of Zanzibar (and the rest of the African East Coast) are an incredible sight. These traditional Arab sailing vessels with one or more lateen sails are primarily used along the coasts of the Arabian Peninsula, India, and East Africa. A larger dhow may have a crew of approximately thirty while smaller dhows have crews typically ranging around twelve.
The crew of a large Dhow.
A Dhow ready to sail off from Stone Town harbour.
A fantastic sight!
A "smaller" Dhow.
Dhow sunset.
A very much requested photo from my database: Two Dhows sailing off at the beginning of the sunset.
A Dhow just leaving Stonetown harbour.
On our way out of Zanzibar.
Now this is a Dhow!
Halfway back to Tanzania's Dar Es Salaam.
